What is the OPW Heritage Card, and where can it be used?
The OPW Heritage Card provides free, unlimited, admission to over 45 fee-paying state-managed OPW Heritage Sites located throughout Ireland for the duration of the card’s validity. Please note that some sites may be closed or operate with restrictions in place in light of emerging circumstances and as Covid measures are installed. See HeritageIreland.ie for updates.
The list of pay-in sites the Card can be used at is listed here. A brochure, which also includes many additional OPW Heritage sites that are always free to enter, can be downloaded here. A copy of the brochure will be sent with each Heritage Card order received, and copies of the brochure are also available from the heritage sites you visit.
The Heritage Card is solely for individuals/families, and small groups. It may be purchased by individuals/families and small groups, or by travel agents/ tour operators acting on their behalf.
Accordingly, there are limits on the maximum number of heritage cards that may be purchased. If you are organising a group, we recommend you contact the heritage site(s) of interest directly.
Each Heritage Card must be signed by the card user in advance of first use. Heritage Cards are strictly non-transferable and may only be used by the signatory on the card. The signatories ID may be requested at the Heritage Sites.
Please Note re Busy Heritage Sites: Some OPW Heritage Sites can be extremely busy, particularly in high season. The OPW Heritage Card does not guarantee admission in such circumstances. In addition, the OPW Heritage card does not provide for fast track entrance to visitor sites. There are a number of heritage sites where you can book your online tour using your card by clicking the 'Heritage Card' option within their online booking facility (see a list of these sites).
